Southampton had absolutely no answer for Heung-Min Son on Sunday.

The Tottenham star scored four goals in Spurs' 5-2 win over the Saints, ruthlessly exploiting the home side's high defensive line in a match that went from dour to frenetic in the blink of an eye.

Son became the first South Korean player to record a Premier League hat-trick in the process.

Incredibly, all four of his tallies were assisted by Harry Kane, the first time such a feat has been accomplished in England's top flight.

Kane thrived dropping deeper to facilitate play for this teammates - a common sight for Tottenham - and got a marker of his own late in the contest.

Danny Ings scored both goals for Southampton in the losing effort.

After looking completely devoid of ideas for 45 minutes, Jose Mourinho's side finally sprung to life in first-half stoppage time, breaking the offside trap before Son found the net with his team's first shot on target.

The 28-year-old then found another gear in the second stanza, scoring three times in a 26-minute spell after the interval.

All told, Tottenham registered five goals on just six shots on target to record their first victory of the new league campaign.
