The Premier League announced Monday that its latest round of COVID-19 testing has yielded four positive results.

Overall, 2,131 players and club staff were tested from Sept. 7-13. The infected quartet will self-isolate for 10 days.

England's top flight reported three positive results last Monday following testing that coincided with clubs' return to preseason training. Manchester City confirmed earlier that day that Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte were asymptomatic carriers of the coronavirus.

The Premier League halted its 2019-20 campaign for three months during the latter half of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020-21 season kicked off this past weekend before the United Kingdom recorded 2,621 new COVID-19 cases Monday.
