Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is asking Arsenal for a new three-year contract worth up to £250,000 per week, sources told ESPN's James Olley.

Aubameyang, the Premier League's joint-top scorer with 19 goals, is willing to stay at Arsenal, but it's unclear if they can afford to keep him. The Gunners have yet to determine their summer transfer budget, according to Olley.

The 31-year-old's request still falls significantly short of Mesut Ozil's mammoth £350,000-a-week contract.

Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Juventus have all been linked with Aubameyang, but Olley reports both Arsenal and the player are trying to reach an agreement.

Manager Mikel Arteta said in June he's "pretty positive" the team will strike a deal that suits all parties.

"I think it is our responsibility to make him feel that this is the right next step in his career," Arteta said.

"In order to do that he needs to feel valued," he continued. "I think he needs to feel he belongs to us and we want him.

"He really needs to believe we can take this club forward the way we want to do. He is going to be a key player to do that."

Aubameyang has been one of Arsenal's bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season. With a brace against Norwich City on Wednesday, the Gabonese international became the quickest player to reach 50 Premier League goals in club history.

He has now recorded 51 tallies in 79 appearances.
