Arsenal have identified Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo as a potential replacement for Unai Emery should the club opt to dismiss the under-fire Spaniard, according to BBC Sport.

Several dominoes will need to fall first, though if the Gunners are permitted to speak with Nuno, the Portuguese gaffer would reportedly be a strong contender to succeed Emery.

Emery has been mired by a challenging spell at Arsenal with just four wins in 13 Premier League outings amid reports of an impending sacking for the former Paris Saint-Germain tactician.

"My focus is only today and tomorrow, to do all the things that we have worked on here at the training ground," Emery offered.

Nuno was asked about rumors linking him with a move to north London ahead of Thursday's return to Portugal in Europa League play against Braga.

"You know me well enough. You know I'm not going to answer about that and mention an issue that is not a reality," Nuno offered, according to The Mirror's Jake Polden.

Nuno is understood to have autonomy over Wolves' transfers in conjunction with super agent Jorge Mendes' involvement with the West Midlands side, which features eight Portuguese players on its first team.

Through 13 Premier League matches, Wolves sit fifth on 19 points amid a run of eight outings without defeat, while Arsenal are in eighth, a point adrift of Nuno's side.
