Everton forward Moise Kean missed Saturday's win over Southampton as punishment for breaching club rules.

It's understood that the teenager made the trip to St. Mary's Stadium but was dropped from Marco Silva's team because he was late for a team meeting, according to Phil McNulty of BBC Sport.

It's the second time that Kean has been late for a team meeting, McNulty adds.

Silva did not disclose the reason for dropping Kean when asked ahead of Everton's 3-1 victory over the Saints, explaining that it was "a decision, just decision," according to the Press Association.

Everton considers the matter to be closed after Kean apologized for his tardiness.

It's been a difficult start to life in the Premier League since Kean joined the Toffees from Juventus last summer for a reported fee of £27 million.

The Italian international has been limited to just four starts this season and has yet to find the back of the net in 11 appearances.
