Manchester City fans must despise video assistant referees. And playing Tottenham, for that matter.

After a last-gasp ruling by the video assistant saw Pep Guardiola's side bow out of the Champions League last season at the hands of Spurs, it was deja vu Saturday.

With their Premier League match knotted at two apiece in the 92nd minute, Gabriel Jesus thought he'd given the hosts all three points with a cool finish into the bottom corner. But a VAR review spotted a handball by Aymeric Laporte in the buildup to the Brazilian's tally, thus chalking it off.

The defender's touch was accidental, but a rule change heading into this season means any handball infraction, even if it's not intentional, will result in a goal being called back after video review.

Twitter, unsurprisingly, had some takes. And jokes.
