Yes, Eliaquim Mangala is still on Manchester City's books ... for now.

Mangala will be allowed to leave the back-to-back Premier League champions on a free transfer this summer despite costing City an exorbitant £42 million in 2014, The Telegraph's Luke Edwards reports.

The 28-year-old was left off the club's traveling squad for a preseason tournament in China after he was apparently instructed to find himself a new employer. A host of largely untested teenagers were chosen over him in the touring party.

Mangala has been loaned to Valencia and Everton in recent seasons, but neither outfit returned to sign the center-back on a permanent basis. It's understood that current interest in signing the Frenchman comes from Portugal and Turkey, with a move only believed to be feasible if City let him depart for nothing.

That would make Mangala's wage demands more digestible for a potential suitor.

Mangala was signed by City from FC Porto in 2014 but his career has since been hampered by poor form and a succession of injuries. He has one year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
