David Silva will leave Manchester City at the completion of the 2019-20 campaign, marking an end to a celebrated decade-long career with the defending Premier League champions.

"This is the last one," Silva admitted on Tuesday, according to Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail. "Ten years for me is enough. It’s the perfect time.

"Initially, the club (was) talking about two years (contract) but I decided to sign another one so I finished at 10 years," Silva added. "It completes the cycle. It’s a nice round figure. I can never see myself playing against City for another team. So 10 years - that’s it!"

Silva, 33, joined City in June 2010 from Valencia for a reported £26-million fee. Since moving to the Premier League, the understated star has won four league titles to pair with two FA Cups and a quartet of League Cup successes. The midfield wizard has amassed 71 goals and 129 assists across 396 appearances with City.

The only piece of silverware to escape Silva has been the Champions League. "We haven’t been able to achieve that goal yet of winning the Champions League but if every year is like last season I would sign for it right now," Silva remarked.

Silva has expressed in the past a desire to end his playing career in Gran Canaria with hometown Las Palmas, who currently languish in the second tier of Spanish football.

"I would love to finish my career here in Las Palmas but football changes. Who knows? It depends on the team and the players," he said. "I cannot come here to play in the second division with this team."
