Chelsea will try to prove to Callum Hudson-Odoi that he is a vital part of the club's plans by offering him a new deal, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law.

The 18-year-old winger is set for surgery on a torn Achilles he suffered in Monday's 2-2 home draw against Burnley. He is unlikely to be fit for the opening match of next season, so is therefore not expected to be the subject of renewed interest from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Law believes the Blues can use the situation to their advantage by showing "how highly they value him by offering him a new contract during his recovery."

Chelsea reportedly rejected several bids from Bayern Munich for Hudson-Odoi in January. The teenager, frustrated by a lack of first-team football at Chelsea, even submitted a transfer request that was turned down by the London club.

Since he submitted his request to move away, he has started four Premier League matches and may inherit Eden Hazard's starting berth on the left of the attack as the Belgian appears ever-closer to a lucrative switch to Real Madrid.

Hudson-Odoi's current contract runs until 2020. He can apparently anticipate wages of around £100,000 a week if he chooses to commit to Chelsea.

His future seems even more important to Chelsea as they prepare for a potential two-window transfer ban for contravening FIFA rules on signing players under the age of 18. Chelsea submitted an appeal against the punishment last month.
