Manchester United is taking yet another injury blow with Alexis Sanchez set to be sidelined for up to two months, according to James Ducker of The Telegraph.

Scans of the Chilean's knee revealed damage to the medial ligament. Sanchez suffered the injury during United's 3-2 win over Southampton on Saturday, and he was removed from the contest after 52 minutes.

The injury is expected to sideline the 30-year-old for six-to-eight weeks. United have yet to release a statement.

The Premier League side begins life without Sanchez on Wednesday against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The club is expected to be without him for nine matches, including Sunday's clash against Arsenal, and possibly also encounters with Manchester City and Chelsea.

Sanchez's absence is the latest blow for a United squad that's already missing key players such as Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera, and Nemanja Matic because of injury.

Meanwhile, star midfielder Paul Pogba will miss Wednesday's round of 16 match in Paris because of a suspension.

Sanchez is struggling to replicate the form that earned him a contract at United reportedly worth £500,000 per week. He's scored just five goals in 40 appearances since joining the Red Devils from Arsenal in January 2018.
