Kepa dropped after League Cup fiasco

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri reprimanded Kepa Arrizabalaga for refusing to be substituted in last weekend's League Cup final by benching the Spanish goalkeeper Wednesday against Tottenham.

Willy Caballero, who replaced Kepa in goal, kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win.

Caballero had made just three previous Premier League starts as a Chelsea player.

Sarri said the incident at the end of extra time was nothing more than a misunderstanding, but the subsequent decision to fine Kepa one week's wages, and then bench him, suggests otherwise.

Sarri was denied the opportunity to bring on Caballero in the latter stages of Sunday's final against Manchester City, which Chelsea eventually lost on penalties.
