Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero bulged the back of Kepa Arrizabalaga's net inside of 15 minutes to cement the result, marking 15 goals in the first quarter of an hour through 26 league outings.

With early goals setting a benchmark for City's dominance, here's a look at 10 other astounding statistics from the lopsided tilt at the Etihad Stadium:

2: Maurizio Sarri's mercurial side have allowed four or more goals in consecutive away fixtures for the first time in Premier League history.

5: Aguero becomes the fifth player to register hat-tricks in consecutive home league matches. Didier Drogba last did it in August 2010 for Chelsea.

6: Chelsea conceded six goals in a Premier League match for the first time.

10: Sarri's lot have surrendered 10 away goals in their last two league displays, more than City (10) and Liverpool (9) have all season.

11: Aguero recorded his 11th hat-trick in England's top tier to match Alan Shearer for joint-best in the Premier League era.

15: City are now the first top-flight side since Tottenham in 1965 to score more than one goal in 15 straight home league matches.

20: Chelsea have not been behind by four goals at the interval for 20 seasons - since Sunderland pegged back player-manager Gianluca Vialli's men in 1999.

33: City 'keeper Ederson registered 33 passes, one more than Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard.

160: Aguero now has 160 league goals for City, two more than all-time greats Eric Brook and Tommy Johnson. Decent return.

1,070: Sunday's result marked the first time in 1,070 matches that Chelsea conceded six goals in the league dating back to a 7-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in 1991.
