Benjamin Mendy will have a chance to play for the first time since November when Manchester City take on Burton Albion on Wednesday for their League Cup semifinal second leg at Pirelli Stadium, manager Pep Guardiola announced Tuesday, according to club reporter Rob Pollard.

"(Mendy is) in the squad for tomorrow," Guardiola said. "He will travel with us. Maybe on the bench."

The French defender last appeared for City on Nov. 11 against Manchester United before suffering a knee injury, which required surgery. Mendy's timetable for recovery was 10-12 weeks.

"I would say with the results we have done (the) last two years, we have not missed him too much, but I would say we have missed him a lot," Guardiola said.

"My feeling is he can give something extra. Hopefully, in the last part of the season and in the future we can use him."

Guardiola also revealed that captain Vincent Kompany is dealing with a minor injury and that he's unsure when the Belgian defender will return.

"Kompany is not okay. A little injury - he is not fit," he said.

"He is coming back but I don't know when."

Manchester City all but booked a place in the League Cup final after beating Burton 9-0 at Etihad Stadium earlier this month.

Tottenham beat Chelsea 1-0 in the first leg of the other semifinal.
