After just one round of matches in the new Premier League campaign, Claude Puel is already facing questions regarding his future.

Puel is subject of rumors that he will be sacked by Leicester City if there isn't a clear return on a summer transfer outlay that exceeded £100 million. The Foxes lost their opening fixture 2-1 at Manchester United and face a visit from newly promoted upstarts Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

"It's just speculation. I will be happy for my successor, he will have a good squad," Puel told BBC Sport at Thursday's press conference.

"I cannot make comments about speculation in the newspaper. My job is to build something with Leicester to continue to develop this club. Our work since the beginning of preseason is interesting for the future."

The former Southampton handler added: "It isn't the first time and it isn't the last (time there has been speculation about my future). I'm happy to give my best and see the progress and the management of the team. I'm just focused about this. Speculation from outside the club is not my concern."

Puel was reportedly close to losing his job at the tail end of last season.

In addition to signing a host of players including James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira, and Jonny Evans in the close season, Leicester managed to retain the services of in-demand English international Harry Maguire. However, enterprising dribbler Riyad Mahrez was sold to Manchester City for around £60 million.
