Outcast Joe Hart has been included in Manchester City's squad for the club's pre-season tour despite spending the last two campaigns out on loan.

The English goalkeeper hasn't featured for City since the hiring of manager Pep Guardiola, who has preferred to deploy Claudio Bravo and Ederson between the sticks. Hart was the club's first-choice 'keeper before Guardiola's arrival in 2016.

It will be a challenge for Hart to convince the Catalan manager he's worthy of the No. 1 jersey, as Ederson established himself as a reliable goalkeeper during his first season in the Premier League following his £35-million transfer from Benfica last summer.

Hart's inclusion in the City's pre-season squad likely provides an opportunity for the 31-year-old, who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Torino and West Ham, to audition in an effort to attract bids from elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy were also included in the team but are expected join at a later date following their participation at the World Cup, according to BBC Sport.

Riyad Mahrez was named to the 28-man squad and will likely make his first appearance in a City top since his reported £60-million transfer from Leicester City last week.

City will kick off its International Champions Cup campaign Friday against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago before encounters with Liverpool and Bayern Munich next week in New York and Miami, respectively,
