The Toffees are reportedly ramping up the chase for Marco Silva once again.

Everton is targeting the former Watford and Hull City manager as its primary choice to replace Sam Allardyce, who was sacked Wednesday morning, according to The Guardian's Andy Hunter.

Everton's fixation with Silva isn't new. After Watford fired the 40-year-old Portuguese gaffer in January, the Hornets claimed Everton's "unwarranted approach" for the manager was the reason for deteriorating results. Watford had reportedly already rejected two offers from Everton for Silva, with the second said to have been worth £10 million.

Hunter notes Watford submitted an official complaint to the Premier League over Everton's approaches, though the two clubs are expected to hold talks in an attempt to smooth over the issue and allow Everton to sign Silva without repercussion.

Silva, however, could also be on the radar of other European clubs, including Portuguese side Benfica, which was said to be interested in his services in March as a potential replacement for current boss Rui Vitoria.

Everton also announced Wednesday that it has hired former PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands as its new director of football, replacing Steve Walsh.
