Goals from Chelsea's two frontmen against Southampton on Sunday ensured the Blues will have one final crack at a trophy this season.

Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata gave the west London side a 2-0 win at Wembley Stadium to book a second trip to the FA Cup final in two years.

Chelsea will face Manchester United on May 19 in the showpiece event.

Antonio Conte's men lost to Arsenal in last season's final, denying their bid for a domestic double.

Giroud struck early in the second half to give Chelsea a deserved advantage. Morata then entered as a late substitute to head in just his third goal of 2018.

A win in the FA Cup final could send off Conte on a high note after a particularly turbulent campaign. The fiery Italian is expected to leave Chelsea due to a reported discord with the club's board, but a trophy would undoubtedly soothe the feeling of restlessness between all parties.

Conte will also have another opportunity to best rival Jose Mourinho at Wembley. The managers jawed at each other for several months, with Mourinho suggesting Conte has behaved like a "clown" on the touchline. Conte responded by calling his counterpart a "little man." The two shook hands during a meeting in February at Old Trafford, but comparisons between the two have yet to end.

Meanwhile, Southampton's defeat to Chelsea means Burnley will likely receive a qualifying berth in next season's Europa League. Because Chelsea and United already occupy European spots, the Europa League berth that usually goes to the FA Cup winner will now default to the seventh-placed finisher.

Burnley has a healthy nine-point gap on Leicester City with just 12 points available to the Foxes.
