Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has extended his stay at Old Trafford until June 2021 after signing a new contract with the Red Devils on Friday.

The 27-year-old also has an option to extend the deal for a further season.

Rojo has struggled with injury since joining United from Sporting CP in 2014, appearing in 59 out of a possible 114 Premier League matches. A cruciate ligament tear ruled the Argentinian out of last season's Europa League final and the first half of the 2017-18 campaign, and he's been sidelined again by another undisclosed injury.

When fit, however, Rojo has made himself available for the team, offering manager Jose Mourinho some much-needed versatility as a centre-back and full-back

"Marcos has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of seasons, and has always shown great professionalism," Mourinho said in a statement.

"Although his injury has kept him sidelined over these past few weeks, Marcos is working hard to return to full fitness. He is always ready to put his body on the line for this club and I am delighted he has signed a new contract."

Despite his limited minutes, Rojo has added the FA Cup, League Cup, Community, and Europa League to his list of honours.
