With a global pandemic suspending sporting events worldwide, athletes suddenly have tons of time on their hands. In the latest installment of our weekly soccer series, we look at how players are keeping themselves entertained - and in shape - while self-isolating.

Bale takes tekkers to golf

Everyone knows Gareth Bale loves golf. It's a bit of a side romance, actually. But here, he blends skills from his professional life and his favorite hobby without much effort. Maybe both worlds can coexist.

And is that his very own simulator? There's already a mini-golf course in his backyard. Bale has everything in place over the next few weeks to fine-tune his game, and maybe build a case for a Pro-Am appearance when the golf season gets going.

No letting up for Mourinho

Jose Mourinho led a virtual training session this week with his Tottenham players, even joining in with his own cardio workout on the stationary bikes. With the U.K. on lockdown for the foreseeable future, managers like Mourinho are organizing remote sessions to keep the players fit.

These sessions don't run at Mourinho's usual tempo. Here, he advises his players to do a quick run through the garden and play with the kids. It's nice to see Mourinho's tender side every once and awhile.

Memphis has a special guest

Did Memphis Depay learn anything from "Tiger King?"

Earlier this week, the Lyon and Netherlands winger, who's still recovering from a torn ACL, strutted around his house with a lion cub in his arms. It's unclear if the cub is Memphis' pet or just a curious visitor.

The 26-year-old isn't the first footballer to come across exotic animals. The likes of Karim Benzema and Paul Pogba have posted pictures of themselves with tiger cubs before. Kids these days.

Alisson nails the long throw

We all know about Alisson's distribution skills. The Liverpool 'keeper has a cannon of an arm and, evidently, he has no reason to be rusty when he returns to the pitch.

Llorente trolls Liverpool

Marcos Llorente took a shot at Liverpool without even trying. You have to admire the subtlety.

After scoring twice to eliminate the Champions League holders, the Atletico Madrid midfielder apparently named his dog Anfield. He shared the bold name choice on Instagram this week, as he and his new dog continue to stare down the days until European football resumes.

Ronaldo keeps it fresh

Cristiano Ronaldo enlisted the help of his wife, Georgina Rodriguez, to cut his hair Saturday, and by the looks of it, he's quite happy with the work being done. Rodriguez has experience as a manager of a hair clinic in Spain. But still: This isn't any old mop. Ronaldo practically gave his life to her in those precious seconds. That's true love.

Bernardo's had enough of Walker

Over the years, Bernardo Silva has emerged as one of Manchester City's class clowns. With a bit of dry humor and understated mischief, Silva was at it again, sharing his latest takedown of teammate Kyle Walker.

The two have sniped at each other like an old couple since Silva landed in Manchester in 2018. Walker once said Bernardo dresses like a 45-year-old. It appears the Portuguese international has had enough bickering.
