Teen Jadon Sancho turned down Bayern before Dortmund move

The chance to sign for Bayern Munich would be an offer many footballers simply could not refuse, particularly at the wide-eyed age of 17.

Not for Jadon Sancho, it seems. The Bundesliga's hottest teenage talent is lighting up Europe in the yellow and black of Borussia Dortmund, but could instead have been starring in Munich.

At least, that's according to Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, who told German outlet BILD that the English sensation turned down the Bavarian behemoth before agreeing to sign for BVB back in 2017.

"It is true that Bayern Munich wanted Jadon Sancho very well and therefore made him an offer that unfortunately was not accepted," Salihamidzic said, as translated by the Independent.

Sancho, who left Manchester City's academy in August 2017 to move to Germany, is reveling in a stunning breakout season at Westfalenstadion this term. The 18-year-old's amassed five goals and eight assists in just over 850 minutes of play across all competitions.

That form earned Sancho his first senior England call-up last month, and he completed the jump directly from the Under-19 level when he made his Three Lions debut against Croatia.

He's expected to be involved against the United States on Thursday at Wembley, with Sky Sports reporting Sancho's in line to make his first international start in the friendly.
