Weston McKennie is the latest star to withdraw from the United States men's national team through injury.

The 20-year-old just completed a week which saw him register his first goals in the Champions League and Bundesliga, but won't be given the opportunity to extend his run of form in international friendlies against Colombia and Peru. He follows Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams in stepping down from interim head coach Dave Sarachan's squad.

Marky Delgado has been drafted in to replace McKennie. The midfielder suffered the ignominy of being denied a spot in the postseason with reigning MLS Cup champions Toronto FC on Saturday, but was a key member of the side that fell just short in the CONCACAF Champions League final earlier in the 2018 campaign. He made his national team debut in March against Paraguay and has since added two more U.S. caps.

Colombia travels to Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 11 for the first of the two friendlies before the USMNT entertains Peru in East Hartford, Conn. five days later.
