Thiago will miss 'a few days' of training with foot injury

Concerns surrounding a foot injury suffered by Thiago Alcantara in Wednesday's Champions League tie with Besiktas were allayed on Thursday when Bayern Munich said he will miss just "a few days" of training.

The news will also be gratefully received by Spain manager Julen Lopetegui ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Thiago was withdrawn 35 minutes into the 3-1 victory in Istanbul, but his diagnosis from the club suggests he's in contention for Sunday's Bundesliga trip to RB Leipzig. If results elsewhere fall in Bayern's favour, the Bavarian behemoth can clinch the title in Saxony.

Thiago has dealt with numerous injuries over his career, and has been restricted to just nine league starts this season.
