Belgium will climb to the top of the FIFA World Rankings as a result of its win over Israel on Tuesday.
The Belgians needed a victory in their final Euro 2016 qualifier, and they scored three goals in the second half to realise not only the goal of topping their group but also the dream of conquering the world.
The next edition of FIFA's rankings is due Nov. 5.
Belgium, currently No. 3, was only able to push to the fore after a couple of key losses to its closest competitors over the past two weeks. Second-place Germany lost to Ireland and No. 1 Argentina lost at home to Ecuador, opening the window for a historic moment in football history.
To think: Just six years ago, Belgium was ranked 66th. What a time to be alive.
