Danny Welbeck: (Knee) Out Until Christmas

Welbeck (knee) will be sidelined at least until Christmas, manager Arsene Wenger said Thursday.

Analysis:

Welbeck was reportedly close to returning but had a setback in one of the last steps of his rehab, which then prompted him to have another surgery. He was unlikely to break into the starting lineup in Premier League matches, but he gave Arsenal solid depth to use in cup matches, which now won't be the case for a number of months.
