Chelsea's top set-up man Cesc Fabregas took a break from playing provider Wednesday to score Chelsea's opening goal of the Champions League and give them a 1-0 lead over Schalke.
The goal was created by a lovely pass from Eden Hazard after the Belgian midfielder drew his defender to the middle of the box to create space for a surging Fabregas to make the finish.
While the goal was nice, Chelsea were lucky the referee didn't blow his whistle for a possible foul that occurred seconds before, when Fabregas's challenge for the ball looked cynical, leaving Maximilian Meyer writhing in pain outside the Schalke box.
