Inter captain Martinez doubtful for 2nd leg vs. Barca due to injury
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi says that captain Lautaro Martinez is at risk of missing the club's Champions League semifinal second-leg clash against Barcelona next week because of a leg injury he suffered in Wednesday's draw.
The Argentine striker pulled up favoring his leg late in the opening half of the first-leg affair. He briefly left the pitch for treatment before finishing the half but didn't return after the interval.
"I hope we don't lose Lautaro but I have my doubts," Inzaghi told reporters after the game, according to the Associated Press. "It will be very difficult to have him for the return match. Probably we'll play without our captain."
Martinez was replaced by Mehdi Taremi.
The injury bug also bit Barcelona, as influential right-back Jules Kounde excited in the first half because of an undisclosed issue.
Star teenager Lamine Yamal appeared to be nursing a muscle problem of his own during the prematch warmup. However, he was able to play and scored a sensational 24th-minute goal that helped get the home side back on track after conceding the first two goals.
The breathless match finished 3-3. The second leg is next week in Milan.
