Havertz misses Champions League match after positive COVID-19 test
Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz tested positive for COVID-19, ruling him out of Wednesday's Champions League match against Rennes.
Havertz is now self-isolating, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard confirmed prior to kick-off.
Lampard said the rest of Chelsea's first-team squad tested negative.
Havertz missed the first part of training Tuesday, according to Goal's Nizaar Kinsella, leading to suggestions he would be rested for the Champions League tie.
The 21-year-old has made 10 starts since joining Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported £72 million.
He's scored four goals so far but just once in the Premier League.
Following Havertz's surprising diagnosis, Jorginho stepped into Lampard's XI to face Rennes. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who played for Rennes last season, started in goal.
