Mauricio Pochettino got his man.

Tottenham announced the signing of French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on Tuesday, securing their first major transfer in the last 18 months. Lyon confirmed that the 22-year-old moved to Spurs for an initial €60-million fee. The Ligue 1 side can pocket a further €10 million in potential add-ons.

The young star signed a six-year deal with Tottenham.

Outspoken Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has long maintained that the in-demand Ndombele - previously linked with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Juventus - would cost around €75 million. Once the adds-on kick in, the final transfer fee will settle in that range.

Ndombele is expected to slot directly into Pochettino's midfield. A do-everything skill set, highlighted by his dynamic dribbling and passing ability, has led many to dub him the natural successor to former Tottenham star Mousa Dembele.

After famously not signing a single player over the last two transfer windows, the move for Ndombele marks Tottenham's second deal of the day after 18-year-old winger Jack Clarke arrived from Leeds for an undisclosed fee.
