Danny Rose has picked one of football's biggest stages for his long awaited return from injury.

The Tottenham left-back came on in the 80th minute of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, his first Spurs appearance since Jan. 31, 2017.

Rose, 27, suffered serious knee ligament damage in a Premier League match at Sunderland and faced a protracted 10-month return as Ben Davies deputised for the England international.

Davies missed the trip to the Spanish capital through illness, forcing Mauricio Pochettino to play Jan Vertonghen at left-back as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation. Rose came on for Fernando Llorente and took an unfamiliar midfield role for the final 10 minutes of the match.
