Lewandowski misses Real Madrid match with shoulder injury
Robert Lewandowski has been replaced by Thomas Muller up front ahead of Wednesday's Champions League encounter with Real Madrid, after the Polish forward was excluded from Bayern Munich's squad because of a shoulder injury.
Lewandowski suffered the injury during Bayern Munich's 4-1 victory over rival Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti had initially held out hope that the 28-year-old would be available, but ultimately ruled Lewandowski out of the first leg in Germany.
The injury likely won't keep Lewandowski on the sidelines for a prolonged period, as Christian Faulk of Bild reports that he'll be back in the fold for the away leg in Madrid.
Muller will deputise for Lewandowski in attack as the Germany international gets set to make his fifth Champions League start of the season. Wednesday's match will mark Muller's return from injury after he was forced to miss two matches because of an ankle knock.
Manuel Neuer will also feature in goal for the first time since undergoing a minor foot operation last month, while Douglas Costa returns to the bench after overcoming a knee problem.
