Buffon joins elite company with 100th Champions League appearance

Gianluigi Buffon's incredible longevity has seen him reach another career highlight, as the evergreen Italian goalkeeper joined the Champions League century club on Wednesday by starting against Lyon.
Buffon becomes the 29th player to reach the milestone, though he has some way to go if he's going to catch the tournament's all-time appearance leader: Porto shot-stopper Iker Casillas is atop the list with 160 caps, and counting.
Having come out on the losing end both times he's appeared in the Champions League final, the 38-year-old Buffon will no doubt be hoping this is the season he finally gets his hands on the elusive trophy.
