Bale agrees to Real Madrid extension until 2022
Real Madrid secured the long-term services of Gareth Bale after the Welsh star agreed to a contract extension Sunday that will keep him in the Spanish capital until 2022, the team announced.
Specifics of the contract were not released, but it's believed that Bale's new deal includes a buyout clause previously reported to be worth €500 million, according to David Hynter of the Guardian.
Bale's previous deal was set to expire in 2019.
In a brief statement, the club announced Bale will officially put pen to paper on the new deal and address the media Monday.
The extension comes just over three years after Bale joined the Spanish giants from Tottenham for a transfer fee reportedly worth €100 million.
Bale, 27, is the latest Real star to commit his future after the club recently announced new deals for Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Lucas Vazquez.
Since his arrival from north London, the Wales international has adapted well to life in Spain alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real's talented cast of players. Bale - who's scored 62 goals in 135 matches - also played a pivotal role in helping Los Blancos add two Champions League trophies to their collection.
