Benzema, Varane in Madrid squad for Tuesday's clash with Wolfsburg
Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane have recovered from knee and calf injuries in time for Tuesday's crucial Champions League tie against Wolfsburg, with both players in the squad for the reverse leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Benzema limped off halfway through the first leg last week after sustaining a knock to his knee. The 28-year-old missed Madrid's 4-0 thrashing of Eibar on Saturday, but he returned to full training the following day.
It's also a welcome return for countryman Varane, who suffered a calf problem on international duty with France last month. He has sat out the past two weeks of action.
Los Blancos need a 3-0 win or better to have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League semi-finals. Madrid faces the task of overturning a 2-0 defeat to Wolfsburg last Wednesday, but only two other teams in Champions League history have overcome such a deficit to advance to the next knockout stage.
