The Saskatchewan Roughriders released two-time CFL All-Star receiver/defensive back Duron Carter, the team announced Saturday night.
It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the release, but Carter has been plagued by off-field issues throughout his career.
Carter contributed to the Roughriders on offense as a receiver and on defense as a cornerback over the last two seasons. He was used more on defense this year. As a receiver in 2017, Carter posted 1,043 yards and eight touchdowns.
Montreal Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed told the Montreal Gazette's Herb Zurkowsky that he will reach out to Carter, who's now a free agent.
