The saga involving the Toronto Argonauts and running back James Wilder Jr. came to an end Saturday, as the team announced the two sides have agreed on a two-year contract extension through the 2019 season.

Wilder previously threatened to sit out the upcoming season over contract disputes.

"James had an incredible rookie season with us in 2017 and we're thrilled we were able to reach a deal with him to extend," Argonauts general manager Jim Popp said. "We look forward to how James will continue to build on his game in his second year in Canada."

Wilder burst onto the scene as a rookie for the Argonauts and rushed for 872 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games while adding 533 receiving yards on 51 catches. His performance earned him the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award.
