There was yet more quarterback news about the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday, as the team announced that Jeremiah Masoli has agreed to a new two-year contract.

Masoli's deal comes just one day after Hamilton dealt longtime starter Zach Collaros to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

"Jeremiah is a proven dual-threat quarterback whose outstanding work ethic, competitive nature, and resilience is infectious to his teammates and everyone on our staff," head coach June Jones said in a statement.

Masoli started 10 games for the Tiger-Cats last season, and also saw action in the other eight regular-season contests as well. He finished with 3,177 yards passing and 15 touchdowns while adding 446 yards and four scores on the ground. He took over as the team's starter Sept. 4, and led the CFL in passing yards the rest of the way.

With Collaros out of the way, Masoli appears to be entrenched as the starter in Hamilton despite rumors that Johnny Manziel could latch on with the club in the near future.
