Tiger-Cats retain June Jones as head coach
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Monday that June Jones will return as head coach in 2018 after taking over the post on an interim basis midway through the 2017 campaign.
Jones went 6-4 after inheriting the team, a massive improvement for a Hamilton squad that began the year 0-8 under Kent Austin.
"What June accomplished here as a head coach in the last half of the 2017 season was nothing short of remarkable," said Austin, who remains the team's vice president of football operations, in a statement. "He is a strong leader with high character and extensive football knowledge, and we know he will be relentless in his efforts to put a winning product on the field in pursuit of a Grey Cup."
The Tiger-Cats led the CFL in points and offense from the time June took over until the end of the season.
