Eskimos end year on 5-game winning streak, face Blue Bombers in West semifinal

The Edmonton Eskimos scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 28-13, finishing the season on a five-game win streak and with a record of 12-6.

With the win, the green and yellow finish their campaign with the same record as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the West Division's second seed. The Bombers hold the tiebreaker, though, making them the hosts of next weekend's West semifinal between the two teams.

Quarterback Mike Reilly completed 21 of 27 pass attempts for 294 yards. He didn't pass for a single touchdown, but instead burned the Roughriders with his legs, rushing for all three of Edmonton's scores. Running back C.J. Gable rushed for 70 yards on 17 carries.

The Riders used all three quarterbacks but it was Brandon Bridge leading the way with a 12-for-18 performance, throwing for 162 yards and the lone passing touchdown. Wide receiver Marcus Thigpen rushed seven times for 32 yards and a touchdown, while making two catches for 31 yards and a score.

The Riders finish with a record of 10-7 and the second crossover seed. They'll head east next Sunday to face either the Toronto Argonauts or Ottawa RedBlacks, pending the outcome of Saturday's late contest between Toronto and the BC Lions.
