The Hamilton Tiger-Cats had to wait until their ninth contest to get their first win of the 2017 season - a 24-22 victory over the Toronto Argonauts - and even then, they had to wait longer.

After heavy rain and thunderstorms kept the game on hold for over an hour midway through the second quarter with the Argonauts leading 6-0, the metaphorical floodgates opened on both sides.

The Ticats first exploded for two touchdowns in the first two minutes of the third quarter, thanks to a 64-yard strike from Jeremiah Masoli to Brandon Banks and a fumble return for a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff.

A pair of passing scores from Ricky Ray then pulled his Argonauts back in front early in the fourth quarter, before Hamilton's C.J. Gable pounded in a 1-yard rushing touchdown with two-and-a-half minutes remaining.

A last-minute field-goal attempt gave Toronto one more chance to avoid being Hamilton's first victim of the season, but Lirim Hajrullahu's 37-yard kick missed its mark, giving Ticats fans something to cheer about in the Labour Day classic.
