After beginning the season with eight straight losses, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats picked up their third win in four games Friday night, improving their record to 3-9.

The Tiger-Cats scratched out a 24-23 victory on the road over the BC Lions, as Sergio Castillo capped a thrilling contest with a game-winning 50-yard field goal, leaving just 10 seconds on the clock.

Jeremiah Masoli helped set up the deciding score, completing passes to Shamawd Chambers - who was acquired midweek from the Edmonton Eskimos - and Luke Tasker to drive the ball into opposing territory. Masoli and Alex Green combined for 23 rushing yards on the last drive.

Masoli finished the night with 226 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Green had 13 carries for 140 yards on the ground.

While the Tiger-Cats jumped past the Montreal Alouettes for third place in the East division, they remain five points out of a playoff spot (behind second-place Ottawa) due to the strength of the West and the CFL's crossover scenario.

The Lions have now lost five of their last six, which will surely prompt concern in BC. Jonathon Jennings threw for 345 yards, and Jeremiah Johnson rushed for 91 yards, but the Lions could only find the end zone once, settling for field goals on five other drives.

BC now sports a 6-7 record, sitting in last place in the West, though that record would still place the Lions atop the East standings.
