J.C. Sherritt's seventh CFL season is over after just one quarter.

The Edmonton Eskimos confirmed the news many had been suspecting after the linebacker was carted off the field during Saturday's contest against the BC Lions, announcing Sherritt suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and will be forced to miss the remainder of the season.

Sherritt took to Twitter on Sunday to thank those who supported him, but the full extent of the injury was not known until Monday.

Eskimos head coach Jason Maas will be forced to look deep within his depth chart for help, as Sherritt becomes the second Eskimos linebacker to suffer a season-ending injury after Cory Greenwood tore his ACL in practice on June 1.
