Lions ship former All-Star Mike Edem to Roughriders
The BC Lions have traded safety Mike Edem to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the CFL confirmed Thursday.
As part of the deal, the two clubs will exchange conditional picks in the 2018 CFL Draft.
Edem, a University of Calgary product, registered 37 tackles and two interceptions with the Lions last year. He began his career with the Montreal Alouettes, who took him third overall in the 2013 CFL Draft.
Edem was named an East Division All-Star as a rookie, but has bounced around the league since. He was dealt to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the trade deadline in 2015, then signed a two-year free-agent contract with BC ahead of the 2016 campaign, and is now off to his fourth team in the last four years.
The 27-year-old has notched 89 tackles, six interceptions, five sacks, and three forced fumbles over 60 career games.
