Only seven years after its foundation, Krasnodar is moving on to the knockout phase of the Europa League.
The Russian club booked its place in the competition's round of 32 on Thursday by virtue of a shocking 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. It was Pavel Mamaev who scored the fixture's lone goal only two minutes into the match, converting a penalty after Mats Hummels pulled back Mauricio Pereyra inside his club's 18-yard box.

Dortmund produced a number of chances from then on, including Adrian Ramos' attempt to chip Andriy Dykan after a disastrous goal kick from the Russian 'keeper - only to see his shot bounce off the woodwork in comical fashion.
Krasnodar's progression is remarkable not just because the club only came into existence in 2008, but the team from near the Black Sea also did something no other team has managed against Dortmund this season.

Krasnodar, which also leapfrogged Dortmund in Group C on number of goals scored away from home between the two clubs, will close out its participation in the group stage on Dec. 10 at Qabala. Dortmund, meanwhile, will host PAOK on the same date.
