Thiago Alcantara agrees to new Bayern Munich deal until 2019
Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara will continue to call the Allianz Arena home beyond his current deal after penning a new two-year extension with the German champions.
The extension will see the Spanish international continue his career in the Bundesliga until 2019, the club announced.
"We’re delighted Thiago has decided to stay with FC Bayern for the long term," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said, "he’s young and an important player for the future of our club."
The new contract comes despite the fact that Thiago has only managed to make 41 appearances since joining Bayern from Barcelona in 2013.
Injuries plagued the 24-year-old in the early stages of his career in Munich, but he was finally able to regain fitness and has not been bothered by injuries since his return to the team from a serious knee ailment in April.
