Arjen Robben to miss Bayern Munich's preseason tour with muscle injury
Perhaps it's a precautionary move to ensure his fitness for the upcoming season, as Arjen Robben was ruled out of Bayern Munich's preseason tour with an injury.
It's a tough blow for the oft-injured Dutch midfielder after being ruled out of the team's trip to China because of a muscular problem, the team announced.
A timetable for his return wasn't announced as he will stay behind and work at the team's complex in Germany in an effort to ensure he's ready for the team's opening match against Hamburger SV on Aug. 14.
Robben, 31, saw his season end prematurely when he suffered a calf injury during Bayern Munich's loss to Borussia Dortmund in April during the DFB Pokal semi-final.
Depending on the severity of his injury, Bayern might be forced to explore alternate options on the transfer market to ensure they don't suffer a dip in performance similar to their poor string of matches to end the 2014-15 campaign.
