Weigl - a 19-year-old who is part of the German national squad currently competing at the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand - put pen to paper on a four-year contract and is Dortmund's second signing of the summer after sealing a summer deal for Gonzalo Castro.
"Julian Weigl is an exciting prospect for our central midfield," sporting director Michael Zorc said. "We see great potential in him."
