AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt beat the buzzer to complete a swap deal involving Andre Silva and Ante Rebic on transfer deadline day.

The Serie A club added the feisty Croatian forward on a two-year loan while Portuguese international Silva moved the other way, also on a temporary basis for the next two seasons.

Neither side disclosed whether the respective moves include purchase options, though it was reported earlier in the week that the Rossoneri could sign Rebic permanently for around €25 million.

"It was his big wish to go to Italy and launch himself into a new challenge," Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic said of the 2018 World Cup finalist, according to AFP.

The indefatigable Rebic scored nine Bundesliga goals in 28 appearances last season and will likely assume a second-striker role at the San Siro, playing off Krzysztof Piatek.

Silva, meanwhile, was the subject of transfer speculation all summer; the 23-year-old had been linked with a move to Monaco. Eintracht will represent his second successive loan spell after spending last season at Sevilla.
