United States international forward Bobby Wood has told Hamburg he has no interest in playing in the second tier.

Following the club's first-ever relegation from the Bundesliga, Wood is looking to stay in the top flight, with Hamburg manager Christian Titz confirming the 25-year-old's intentions. "(He) informed us that he wants to leave the club and continue to play (in the) Bundesliga," Titz told reporters, per ESPN FC.

"We'll wait and see what will happen after the talks in the coming days and whether there will be a transfer. If he opts to stay here, then he will be a member of the squad."

Linked with a move to Hannover, Wood has hardly lit the Bundesliga afire with a scant treble of league goals in 25 appearances last season. That number was marginally better than the five goals he registered the previous year. After breaking through with 2. Bundesliga side Union Berlin in 2015-16 on 17 goals, the 39-time capped international has had his fair share of troubles with top-flight football.

According to German outlet kicker, Ukrainian giant Dynamo Kyiv is also reportedly interested in Wood. Hamburg kicks off its preseason training camp in Austria this week.
