Dortmund officially appoints Lucien Favre as manager
Borussia Dortmund has hired Lucien Favre as its new boss, the club confirmed Tuesday.
The Swiss manager signed a two-year contract with Die Schwarz-Gelben that will keep him in at the club until June 30, 2020. He previously managed Ligue 1 outfit Nice, where he guided Les Aiglons to a third-place finish in 2016-17 and eighth this past season.
"Coaching Borussia Dortmund is an exciting task that I'm delighted to take on. ... BVB is one of the most interesting clubs in Europe and I'm looking forward to returning to the Bundesliga, which I know extremely well and always kept an eye on during my two years in Nice," Favre said.
Favre has prior Bundesliga experience with Hertha Berlin (2007-09) and Borussia Monchengladbach (2011-15). He replaces Peter Stoger, who stepped down from his post at the end of the campaign.
