Bayern's Robben, Boateng taken off early vs. Madrid with injuries
Injuries to both Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng forced Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes to reshuffle his lineup early in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg versus Real Madrid.
Thiago Alcantara and Niklas Sule replaced their teammates in the seventh and 33rd minutes, respectively.
Robben appeared to tweak his thigh after kick-of, while Boateng was seemingly bothered by a hamstring issue.
The pair of untimely changes left Heynckes with just one substitution remaining.
Madrid scored a crucial away goal to level the match at 1-1 shortly after Boateng's departure.
Robben has struggled with a combination of muscular injuries and nerve problems this season, alternating time on and off the pitch. Boateng, meanwhile, had a troublesome 2017 that featured a months-long spell on the sidelines.
